They don’t know where to find peace. Rom. 3:17
Is your life a mess? Are you struggling to find purpose? Are you striving for a peace that always slips away?
The world is telling you to do it your way. It tells you to find yourself, follow your heart and make yourself happy. But that is a lie. Peace doesn’t come from fighting for it. Peace doesn’t come from within yourself.
There is only one prescription for all that ails you.
I lie in the dust;
revive me by your word.
I told you my plans, and you answered.
Now teach me your decrees.
Help me understand the meaning of your commandments,
and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds.
I weep with sorrow;
encourage me by your word.
Keep me from lying to myself;
give me the privilege of knowing your instructions.
I have chosen to be faithful;
I have determined to live by your regulations.
I cling to your laws.
Lord, don’t let me be put to shame!
I will pursue your commands,
for you expand my understanding. Psalm 119:25-32
I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands. Ex. 20:6
When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. John 15:10
Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3
There is no magic prayer, no prosperity gospel that will increase your wealth four fold. There is no effortless pill to swallow. But there is the Law of the Most High, the Lord of Heaven’s armies. Get in his book. Fall in obedience to his ways. Love him. Love his law. It is the law of liberty (Jm. 1:25).
Then…
But there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who do good. Rom. 2:10
My post script:
There is a wide-spread movement among Christians to dismiss the law. The law of liberty doesn’t mean there is no law. As with many spiritual paradoxes, freedom comes through our voluntarily obedience to the commandments of God.
