Refuge: A Resource for Grieving Hearts

grief-transforming

“My eyes have grown dim with grief; my whole frame is but a shadow.” Job 17:7

For my friends who share in the fellowship of grief, today my hope for you is that you give yourself permission to grieve loudly. Give your self the freedom to grieve openly. Throw protocol and politeness out the window and be what you are in this moment of grief. It isn’t pretty. But its real.

I also want to share this with you. In the early days of my grief I read a blog written by another grieving mom.  Today I was led back to it and found a powerful message in Amy Robert’s prayer:

Oh Lord,
I come to you weak and wasting away from this all-consuming grief. You are the only
One to Whom I can go to find refuge in the agony of my loss. Only You know the extent
of my troubles and the numbing ache of my heart. There are those who fear my grief
and those who cannot understand it. I pray You blind me to the thoughtlessness of
others. I commit my spirit to You, Oh Lord God. Grant me courage and hope and
strength for the days to come. Amen.

She also offers an online resource I want to connect my readers to: Psalms for the Grieving Heart: A 30 Day Devotional For Those Who Grieve

It hurts. It’s ugly. But know this, you are not alone.

thank you. grief comes in many forms and not many want to walk that way with us. So thankful for your heart. It helps me to know I am not alone in my grief. 2 Tim. 4:16-17.

Thank you! I think I’m afraid to grieve around anybody, because of what they might think or say. I then remind myself it’s only been 3 months since Aiden died and I should not be “OK” yet. This is so difficult and I wish I could fast forward through it. You are a great encouragement to many of us.
