I Need Mercy

A Gentile woman who lived there came to him, pleading, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David!” Mt. 15:22

Jesus, I want to be more like her. I don’t plead enough. I expect too much. Sometimes I feel entitled to mercy.

Today I want to remember that I do not deserve it. I cannot earn it. I do not have a right to it. It is simply your gift.

As I extend my hand, pleading for mercy, I hear you say.

I forgive you.

I love you.

I redeemed you.

I will exalt you.

Jesus I love you. I hope that I always make you happy. I know that you want to give me an abundant, full life. Help me to live like that always.

    “Sometimes I feel entitled to mercy.” YES. Me, too. 🙁 This is such a struggle for me and I can see it and feel it in my own heart. I talk to God, pleading with Him to rid me of my spoiled brattiness, but I still get so angry at others for their sin, justifying my own sinful reactions because they “started it.” It makes me sick just how much I still struggle with pride and entitlement. But, I’m just so thankful that God has helped me recognize it in my own heart and has drawn me TO Him in these times now, instead of allowing me to go on simply avoiding him in the bitter, angry times. He is working in me and He won’t stop. That is what keeps me going when I make my own bratty self sick. I can’t out-sin His grace. ♡

    Yes – same here AJ! I am so thankful for the Christian home I was brought up in but I think then my struggle is then that of pride, self-deserving attitude, and the lack of feeling in desperate NEED of His mercy. Thanks for the reminder Serena!
