Dear Child,
Today I see your pain. I know that right now you feel defeated. You feel like you are lost. You feel like everything you loved is gone. You are feeling like your life isn’t worth living anymore.
You numbed the pain with more drugs. You have given your body away. You have done things in secret you thought no one saw. I saw. You did things you thought no one knew. I know.
I know everything you’ve done.
And I have come to you today to let you know that it doesn’t have to be this way.
I love you. I have loved you from the beginning. I watched you as you formed in your mother’s womb. Oh, the plans I had for you. The dreams I dreamed for you, a life of beauty where you walked with me. A life where you listened to my voice as I whispered to you heart, “You are mine.” Oh how treasured you are to me. I longed for a life with you.
I have stood with my arms open, ready to embrace you. But instead of running into my arms, you run away again and again. I have fought the demons of hell that salivate to finish you off. They want to feast on you my child. But I died for you. I defeated them already for you. The day I conquered the enemy was the most glorious day of eternity. For three days he thought he won. He believed that I was dead. I wish you could have seen it. My father sent his Holy Spirit into my mortal body robbing Satan of his victory. That day the power of life crushed the head of the death. The wicked one lost that day.
But child, you refuse to believe. You refuse the gift of life instead embracing death. Today my hand remains open. My heart is ready to receive you. Just fall into me.
Forever Your Savior,
Jesus
Jesus is calling. Shed your addiction and fall into him. If you are struggling with letting go, there are some things I want you to know.
1. Satan is using your addiction to manipulate you for his glory.
Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. 2 Cor. 4:4
2. You are choosing slavery that leads to death, but you don’t have to!
Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. Rom. 6:16
3. Your addiction is not who you are.
You will no longer be called Abandoned, and your land will no longer be called Deserted. Instead, you will be called My Delight Is in Her, and your land, Married. Because the Lord delights in you, your land will be cared for once again. Is. 62:4
4. God thinks you are worth rescuing.
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. Eph. 1:4-5
5. God gives “do-overs.”
For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Rom. 6:4
6. After you give your life to Jesus in full surrender, he fights your battles. He devours your sin. Nothing has power over you anymore.
Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. Rom. 6:5-6
7. The same Holy Spirit that resurrected Jesus can live in you. He will give you the same power.
And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Rom. 8:10-11
Father God,
Today I pray for the one who is struggling to let her addiction go. I pray that you will, with whatever force you must, remove the grip of Satan. Let her see truth today. Let her see Jesus. There is a life of glory waiting for her. Please Father, help her. Help her let go and just fall into the arms of her Redeemer. Amen.
