Today is a follow-up to, How To Survive the Death of Your Child.
David so vividly paints the picture of what my response to God should be through my season of tribulation. As I said yesterday, David knew tribulation. David knew my tribulation.
He said, The righteous person faces many troubles. When you face these troubles DO this:
- Boast only in the Lord
- Exalt his name
- Pray
- Look to him for help
- Take refuge in him
- Fear him
- Trust him
- Turn away from evil and do good
- Search for peace and work to maintain it
For the angel of the Lord is a guard;
he surrounds and defends all who fear him.
This is the exciting part. When you move just a step toward God he moves mountains and slays dragons to fight his way to you. He did it for David. He’s doing it for me.
I find inexplicable comfort in knowing that God’s rescue plan was in motion before I even knew I needed it. David experienced God’s rescue plan. I am experiencing God’s rescue plan.
He did if for David. He’s doing it for me. The Lord:
- answered me
- freed me from all my fears
- listened
- saved
- surrounds and defends
- watches
- rescues
- is close
- redeems
The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help.
He rescues them from all their troubles.
If your spirit is crushed, if calamity is overtaking you, if you are facing troubles that never seem to relent, find your refuge in a God who is offering the rescue line. He is offering to save you. Will you grab the life line? I did. And it’s working.
