Any time I get a new outfit or take a little extra time fixing my hair and make-up I usually do a little model-esque pose and ask my husband, “How do I look?”
If the approval lacks any luster I get a little miffed. Then I wonder where I could make improvements. Do the shoes work with this outfit? Is the shade of my lipstick too dark?
When I dress for him, I want to WOW him.
My daughters do the same thing with more flare. They spin and twirl and stand wide-eyed until they get their desired response from Daddy. “YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL!”
When they dress for him, they want to WOW him.
You know what I don’t do. I don’t pose before my heavenly Father. I don’t stand before him and let him scrutinize my appearance. I don’t stare wide-eyed, longingly waiting for his approval.
But I should. I should dress for him. I should want to WOW him before and beyond all others.
I want to wow him with my:
Modesty
“I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments”. 1 Tim. 2:9
Strength and Dignity
“She is clothed with strength and dignity.” Prov. 31:25
Gentle and Quiet Spirit
“Your adornment must not be merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves…” 1 Pet. 3:3-4
