Holy Cross Abbey Day Five: Heading Home

“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

-Jesus

Well, I left the Holy Cross Abbey on Friday, concluding my 5 days of solitude and spiritual retreat.  I learned a lot about myself and God.  And I learned I DO have what it takes to not talk.

From my journal:

This has been an interesting experience.  I appreciate the time of contemplation so I could hear the voice of my Lord.  I appreciate the time in his creation along with the food and shelter provided for this spiritual journey.

Now, as I walk out the door, I am called to another mission- the adventure of my real life.  I am called back to my life of marriage, children, chaos, ministry, and friendship.  I miss my husband, kids and fellowship.  I need these people desperately.  I am ready to return, changed perhaps, but ready to return to the life God has so richly blessed me with. Here’s to the journey home.
