2015
The year you didn’t lose any weight.
You didn’t fix your marriage.
You didn’t stay sober, save money or read your bible.
The year you should’ve, could’ve and didn’t.
Now here you sit in the first weeks of 2016 so overwhelmed with the mountain you are buried under, you wonder if its easier to just keep sitting. You probably don’t deserve a second chance any way. You’re probably getting what was coming to you and it’s your own fault.
We call that guilt. And if you have it this is for you:
It doesn’t have to be that way.
The first time the gospels record Jesus reading scripture in the synagogue, it is this:
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
Because the Lord has anointed me
To bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to captives
And freedom to prisoners;
To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord… Isaiah 61:1-2
Jesus is saying “Come on. Listen. This is your year! I’m here and I have great news! I am binding up broken hearts and setting people free all over the world. Now it’s your turn!”
Friend, it’s your turn. It’s for you.
Satan is stealing your joy.
Guilt is a 100% guaranteed demotivating, drag you down and steal your joy gift wrapped in a box straight from the devil himself.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy… John 10:10
Guilt will kill you every time.
Jesus wants to give it back.
…I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 10:10
How does He do that?
If ever there were guilty people on that planet it was these ones:
“Fellow Israelites, listen carefully to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man thoroughly accredited by God to you—the miracles and wonders and signs that God did through him are common knowledge—this Jesus, following the deliberate and well-thought-out plan of God, was betrayed by men who took the law into their own hands, and was handed over to you. And you pinned him to a cross and killed him. Acts 2:22-23
They killed Jesus. JESUS!! He came. He healed. He did miracles. And they killed him.
Can you imagine that moment when the gravity of THAT sets in?
How do you ever recover from such a tragic fail?
I’m sure their world was spinning. They were gripped with truth of what happened and then the reality that they were responsible.
So they asked, “Brothers, what should we do?”
Such a simple question and the Apostle Peter gives such a simple answer.
“Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38
How do you get over your guilt?
You stop doing the wrong stuff you’re doing. Be cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Embrace supernatural forgiveness. And become a living, walking temple of the Holy Spirit.
Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? 1 Cor 3:16
So I say, walk by the Spirit… Gal. 5:16
Now GO! Do it!
