Abraham left the land of his fathers for the unknown land of an unseen God. Moses left the royal palace for a shepherd’s life among strangers. David just went to deliver food to his brothers. Ruth departed from her homeland to follow her mother-in-law returning to a famine stricken land.
These few became the Father of All Nations, the hand-picked leader to freedom for Israel, a King, and a gentile placed in the lineage of the Messiah.
This week I’ve been talking about the dreaded money topic ( you can catch up by clicking Debt Free Living & Credit Bondage). Today’s message may seem unconventional. But my advise is this, STOP PLANNING!
If you are burdened with debt and financial bondage or whether want to experience true financial freedom, consider this: stop planning and walk in HIS will. Abraham didn’t plan the trip to Canaan. Moses didn’t plan the mission in Egypt . David certainly didn’t plan on killing a giant that day and eventually becoming the king. And Ruth didn’t plan on leaving Moab to become an ancestor of Jesus Christ. No, those were God’s plans.
And maybe you haven’t considered this, but God has plans for you too! Those plans include your provisions. God has made promises to you. Will you walk in them? What’s holding you back?
Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way. Prov. 3:5-6
Are you stifling the power of God to work in your life, even financially?
Some of you say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to some city. We will stay there a year, do business, and make money.” Listen, think about this:You don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Your life is like a fog. You can see it for a short time, but then it goes away. So you should say, “If the Lord wants, we will live and do this or that.” But now you are proud and boast about yourself. All such boasting is wrong. If you fail to do what you know is right, you are sinning. James 4:13-17
Is God waiting for you to give more?
Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce. Prov. 3:9
A stingy man hastens after wealth and does not know that poverty will come upon him. Prov. 28:22
Is God expecting you to work more?
We hear that some people in your group refuse to work. They are doing nothing except being busy in the lives of others. Our instruction to them is to stop bothering others, to start working and earn their own food. It is by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ that we are urging them to do this. 2 Thes. 3:11-12
Are you spending too much?
Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.” Luke 12:15
Are you doubting too much?
Don’t worry and say, “What will we eat?” or “What will we drink?” or “What will we wear?” That’s what those people who don’t know God are always thinking about. Don’t worry, because your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things. What you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what he wants you to do. Then he will give you all these other things you need. Matt. 6:31-33
Whatever it is, God knows the answer to unlocking “true life” (1 Tim. 6:17-19). Ask him. Trust him. Follow him to lead you into financial freedom.
- Lord Jesus, in your name,
- I ask you to release our financial burdens today. Help us in turn to seek your will for our employment, our ministries and our families.
- Help us to work hard, spend less, and give more. As we walk on faith, may we be amazed at the wonders you perform in our lives.
- Amen
