Crushed By the Weight of the World? What’s Next?

"In the world you will have tribulation." -Jesus

“In the world you will have tribulation.” -Jesus

…

What are you burdened with today?

  • no gas money
  • grieving
  • loneliness
  • miserable job
  • miserable marriage
  • feeling abandoned
  • addiction
  • sexual sin
  • guilt
  • failure
  • raising kids
  • exhaustion
  • _____ (fill in the blank)

We are all burdened by something, that at times, crushes us under the weight. We usually struggle, asking, ” What’s next? What should I do now?” But I have found that life is less about striving to fix the problems and more about leaving them behind and pursuing kingdom things full force. We simply cannot carry the weight of the world.

If you find yourself crushed by the weight of the world, try this, let the Creator of the world carry it.  Seek Him. Seek His kingdom- above ALL else.

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Mt. 6:33

Focus

Not on your problems, but on Jesus. Quit giving your issues so much attention. Instead, fix your eyes on Him.

Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,  fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith… Heb. 12:1-2

Hush & Pray

Do you spend more time asking God for a new job than you do thanking him for what he’s given you already? Are you always telling people how hard it is, what you don’t have or how sick you are? Or do you just pray?

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Phil 4:6

Study

Do you spend more time doing internet searches that promise to fix your marriage in 3 easy steps or digging into to the Word of God?

Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found. Ps. 119:35

Praise

We don’t praise because we are joyful. We are joyful because we praise.

Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music. Ps. 98:4

Do Something

Not about your problems, but for someone else. Stop striving selfishly and go, do and serve.

Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. Rom. 12:21

Remember

“Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
