Jesus loved Martha and Mary. John 11:5
Jesus, I believe in you. I believe you. You know that. But sometimes as I go about life I get distracted. Sometimes I forget what really matters.
I mean you left heaven and subjected yourself to infancy. You subjected yourself to parental authority. You contained your deity in mortality. Then you let mortals kill you.
The only thing reason that I can even fathom that you would do such crazy things is for love. You love me. Everything that you do and everything that you did is because you love me.
You don’t want to rule over me. You don’t want to bully me. You just want to love me.
…
Isn’t that the issue for most of us? We see God as absent, as dictator or a fairy tale. We see Jesus as a good guy who taught some helpful things but not much else.
Here it is. This is the eternal, forever truth. God made you. God loves you. God sent his son Jesus to redeem you when you were lost. When you give yourself to him he puts his Holy Spirit in you and a promise that he is coming back to get you.
What if we could understand that from the beginning. What if we knew that God did everything for us because he is crazy in love with us? What if we could start giving that belief to our children?
I don’t want my kids to follow Jesus out of duty, tradition or guilt. I want them to know their Creator loves them just the way they are.
The other night I cuddled up with my daughter and read this:
I love you My child, so hear what I say: Nothing can pry me or drive me away
I get asked a lot about resources for kids. This one is stellar.
