You are just four letters. Those letters represent so much pain. You steal so much. You rape our hearts and leave our arms barren. You make us doubt who we are. You oppose our faith and make us choose.
You are sudden. You are quick. You come unexpectedly. You come uninvited, unannounced and unrestrained.
You take our babies and with them our hope. You slay our dreams. You tell us we were not enough.
You are Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. I hate you.
The ache, the emptiness and the terror you leave hurts in my body and my soul.
For sin is the sting that results in death. 1 Cor.15:55
You are a killer.
You killed my son, but you only killed his body. Do you see that? You only killed his body. He is more than a body. He is a soul.
Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Mt. 10:28
Jesus sentenced you to death.
He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News. 2 Tim. 1:10
I am waiting.
For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.
Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”
For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
I’m not moving.
So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. (from 1 Cor 15)
